📍The next stop for the PHS crew on our SUMMER TRAIN journey in Nha Trang was the Đó Theatre—a stunning architectural marvel inspired by the traditional bamboo fish trap (cái đó) used by Vietnamese fishermen.🐟🌾
🏺Here, the children caught the Chum Show, a brilliant performance deeply rooted in the cultural identity of Khánh Hòa. Fascinatingly, in Cham and several Central Highlands dialects, “Chum” actually means “a kiss”—a beautiful symbol of sharing and community bonding. The show itself is a gorgeous harmony of Cham, Central Highlands ethnic, and Kinh cultures.✨
🎵Performed entirely with live music, the Chum Show blends traditional artistry with contemporary circus and breathtaking aerial acrobatics, giving the kids a thoroughly fresh and spectacular experience. Beyond being completely spellbound by the show, they got to truly touch the heart of our cultural heritage, leaving them with a deeper love and pride for the values passed down through generations.✨
P.S. Quite a few of our students have only just realised the theatre is named after a traditional fishing tool, and isn’t just the Vietnamese word for “that thing over there”!
