Our amazing student, Huynh Ngoc Tuong Vy – a 9th grader from PHS – has brilliantly secured a full scholarship for the IB (International Baccalaureate) program at the International High School of Gothenburg! This is one of the most highly-regarded high school scholarships in Sweden!

Tuong Vy is a PHS star who bagged 11 medals at the World Scholar’s Cup – the final round held at Yale University in November 2024! Making it to the Top 100 out of over 70,000 contestants worldwide was just one of her first big steps!

Drawing from her own ‘real-world experience,’ Tuong Vy is thrilled to share her 3 top secrets for anyone dreaming of studying abroad and becoming a scientist:

1. Dreams and Goals

• Becoming a doctor, like her dad, was Tuong Vy’s childhood dream!
• That dream quickly turned into a solid goal with a clear action plan!
• In her recommendation letter to the IB admissions board, Tuong Vy shared her goals and how she’s unlocking the door to the world of science herself!
• Vy is always so proud to have such strong support from her family, the dedicated guidance of her teachers, and the encouragement of her friends!

2. Planning and Commitment

• Choosing the bilingual English study program and building a super strong academic foundation. The PHS curriculum helps her achieve a level in Math, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences that is equal to her peers globally!
• Loving to read and actively participating in school activities! We bet you all remember Tuong Vy’s powerful, vibrant narration in the school play, The Phantom of the Opera!
• For every plan or task she takes on, she always commits to finishing it at her absolute best, being creative, and collaborating perfectly with her teammates!

3. Continuously Challenging and Developing Herself

• She’s always been an outstanding student in both programs at PHS! She joins all the school’s skill development programs and competitions both locally and internationally! With the intelligence she inherited from her family, Tuong Vy has been learning, practicing, and using English naturally since the first grade!
• With the goal of studying abroad and becoming a doctor, she researched the requirements early on and is taking solid steps to prepare herself!
