Admission Requirements of RMIT University

Students who have graduated from high school in Vietnam can choose to study University Transfer Programs or go straight to a Bachelor’s Program.

TRANSFER PROGRAMS

1. University Transfer Program

To study the University Transfer Program – Commerce or Design, you need to meet the following conditions:

Academic Requirements: High School Graduation with a Grade 12 GPA of 6.0/10.0 (or equivalent)

English Requirements

  • Completion of the Upper-Intermediate class of the Preparatory English Program at RMIT, or
  • IELTS (Academic) 5.5+ (no band less than 5.0), or
  • TOEFL iBT 71+ (no band less than 17), or
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) 42+ (no communication skill less than 36), or
  • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or First (FCE) 162+ (no band less than 154)

2. UniSTART

There are two UniSTART programs for two different subject groups at RMIT: UniSTART for Business, Professional Communication, and Fashion and UniSTART for Engineering and Technology. The admission conditions of the UniSTART program are as follows:

Academic Requirements: High School Graduation with a Grade 12 GPA of 6.0/10.0 (or equivalent)

English requirements: Depending on the UniSTART program, English requirements will vary:

  • Completion of an Upper-Intermediate or Advanced class of the Preparatory English Program at RMIT. or
  • IELTS (Academic) 5.5+ (no band less than 5.0) – 6.0+ (no band less than 5.5), or
  • TOEFL iBT 71+ (no band less than 17) – 79+ (no band less than 19), or
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) 42+ (no communication skills below 36) – 50+ (no communication skills below 42), or
  • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or First (FCE) 162+ (no band below 154) – Advanced (CAE) or Proficiency (CPE) 169+ (no skill less than 162)

Bachelor’s Program

There are many options for students who wish to study a Bachelor’s program at RMIT Vietnam.

1. Conditions for direct entry into the Bachelor program

To study a Bachelor’s Program at RMIT Vietnam, you need to meet the following academic requirements:

Academic Requirements: High school graduate with a 12th grade GPA of 7.0/10.0 (or equivalent).

English Requirements:

  • Completion of Advanced Plus of the Pre-University English Program at RMIT, or
  • IELTS (Academic) 6.5+ (no band less than 6.0), or
  • TOEFL IBT 92+ (no band less than 20), or
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) 58+ (no communication skill less than 50), or
  • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Proficiency (CPE) 176+ (no band less than 169)

2. Requirements to enter Bachelor’s program through RMIT Vietnam’s pathway programs

Students who have completed the UniSTART program or graduated from the University Transfer program at RMIT Vietnam can continue on to a Bachelor’s program.

3. Requirements to enter Bachelor’s program through partner colleges

College graduates at RMIT Vietnam’s partner schools can apply for exemptions from certain subjects of the Bachelor of Business program. Partner schools include: Kent College, College of External Economics and College of Economics.

Note: IELTS, TOEFL, Pearson and Cambridge certificates are recognized within 2 years from the test date. The results of the English test at RMIT Vietnam are recognized within 1 year from the date of the test.
