Congratulations to our Year 12 students (Class of 2025 – 2026) at PHS for excellently completing the national Upper Secondary Graduation Examination with highly commendable results!
Notably, whilst this year’s Literature exam paper sparked much public debate, PHS students confidently achieved scores of 6.75 and above, bringing the entire cohort’s average Literature score to 7.32. Furthermore, in the two compulsory subjects, the highest score achieved was 8.25 for Mathematics and 8.0 for Literature.
So, how was this well-structured, strategic journey built?
🌱 1. Right from Years 9 and 10, PHS students participate in a wide range of career guidance programmes. Decisions regarding career pathways and university choices (both domestic and overseas) are proactively made by the end of Year 11, allowing students to focus all their efforts on their goals.
🎯 2. Completing IELTS certificates and preparing university applications and scholarship portfolios are finalised by the end of the first term in Year 12, minimising psychological pressure during the final sprint.
📅 3. The curriculum pathway at PHS is efficiently designed: the academic year begins 1 month early, Term I exams are held 1 month early, and Term II is completed 2 months early. Consequently, teachers and students have a full 2 valuable months to consolidate knowledge and engage in intensive exam preparation.
👥 4. Our highly experienced teaching staff closely monitor students according to their ability groups, providing tailored exam preparation in small groups or on an individual basis.
❤️ 5. Year 12 students are given the autonomy to nominate the form teachers they love and trust. Year 12 at PHS is truly enjoyable, filled with beautiful memories from academic studies, field trips, and maturity ceremonies to graduation. The deep understanding and enthusiasm of form teachers serve as a vital catalyst for the final leg of the students’ journey.
✍️ 6. Proper study habits, alongside a responsible and conscientious attitude towards work, are cultivated from the very first days students enter PHS. Once discipline becomes a habit, exam pressure is merely a challenge to be experienced.
