PHS School Thinking...
At the beginning of each school year, every PHS student is provided with a desk and chair set tailored to their height. In addition to the annual health check-up, school medical staff conduct three height and weight checks throughout the year: at the start of Semester I, the end of Semester I, and the end of Semester II. Students are moved to taller furniture as they grow.
PHS offers seven standard sizes for students from Grade 1 to Grade 12. Notably, high school students taller than 1.85m are provided with custom, oversized sets.
A PHS classroom is characterized by desks of varying heights rather than a rigid, uniform arrangement. This “asymmetry” is a clear reflection of our philosophy: respecting each individual.
The provision of seven different sizes is more than just a matter of facilities; it is a proactive health care measure. Ergonomically correct furniture helps students prevent spinal disorders and refractive errors caused by poor posture. When the spine is straight and the chest is open, breathing becomes steady, allowing for optimal concentration and learning.
Ultimately, this “perfect fit” nurtures independent individuals. Students do not have to conform to a single standard or strain themselves to match their peers. Proper posture fosters a sense of poise and confidence—a confidence rooted in physical comfort, laying the foundation for free and creative thinking from the very first years of school.
